Kodable was founded to fill a gap in education currently affecting over 250 Million kids around the world. Not enough kids are exposed to computer science early enough in their education. Our mission is to make programming education accessible to everyone. We make awesome games to teach kids about programming. Kids journey through the Kodable Universe with a family of furry aliens and learn about programming logic, JavaScript, and game design. Kodable also includes a curriculum for elementary school teachers so they can feel confident teaching alongside the game. Kodable is already used in over 50% of US schools, and in over 190 countries. About the Role: As a 2D Technical Game Artist, you will assist the art team and developers with creating new characters, backgrounds, props and UI for an entire galaxy of coding that kids can explore. You’ll collaborate with the Art Director, game designers and developers to create beautiful and engaging art for Kodable’s Kindergarten - 5th grade game suite. Sound exciting? Read on...

Your Responsibilities:

  • Create 2D vector art assets such as characters, backgrounds, props, buttons and icons while adhering to deadlines and quality standards
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of shape, design, contrast, color, lighting and perspective in all deliverables
  • Rapidly iterate on designs to develop clear product direction in alignment with project and company goals
  • Replicate existing styles in applicable designs based on defined style guides and product reference
  • Translate wireframe mockups into visually cohesive product designs
  • Animate 2D assets using industry standard tools such as Unity and Spine
  • Prepare, export and deliver art assets for developers using art export guidelines
  • Work within Unity to import and implement art assets and set up prefabs
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure deliverables are implemented correctly
  • Work with Art Director to ensure designs adhere to overall brand aesthetic

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience creating 2D vector art for games
  • 3+ years of experience working professionally as an artist/animator in games
  • 2+ years of experience animating characters, animals, props and background art
  • 2+ years of experience working with the Unity Game Engine, including prefabs and animation
  • Experience using Github or equivalent
  • Ability to work efficiently toward project goals without getting caught up in making something perfect

Extra Credit:

  • You have a good understanding of design/engineer etiquette
  • You've made significant contributions to the release of a production-level game
  • You have experience designing particle effects
  • You have sound editing skills

Pay: $83,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
