Working at IxDF, I had the opportunity to develop the UX/UI design curriculum.

I taught at a coding bootcamp - The Iron Yard - for two years and six cohorts of students. Seeing those students go on to careers of their own afterward - many are now senior engineers - remains the thing in my career that brings me the most satisfaction and joy. It's a major reason I'm here now.

Going from customer support to devops

I am proud of spearheading multi-team projects from the planning phase, through the hiccups, and all the way to delivery. It takes soft skills, due diligence, and patience to get a bunch of minds from a bunch of different teams to move in lockstep. Or at least to appear and produce so.

I'm always most proud when I get the chance to work on a feature that is highly visible, knowing that thousands or millions of people could interact with what I helped develop. Whether it's adding a visible feature like Facebook Group Ads, or enhancing the user experience by optimizing load times, it's incredibly rewarding.

Developing an immersive, hybrid learning experience to facilitate Peloton’s broader DEI strategy and initiatives.

Planned and executed, from ideation to implementation a multi-month project to integrate a CMS into our system to manage thousands of blog posts and other articles. I also built an application to digest the raw data and bulk upload it to the CMS. This required me to coordinate with multiple stakeholders on different teams, including engineering, product, and growth/marketing.

Rather than a specific project, I'm proud to have become the go-to engineer for hard-to-solve frontend problems and a trusted resource among teammates. Because of this I was able to have more influence in product decision-making as well as be a part of junior engineers' journey into this career.

One of my proudest accomplishments was designing Navro’s career framework for approximately 60 engineers. This framework provided a structured path for career progression, allowing engineers to advance vertically in seniority and horizontally into various roles. It offered distinct tracks for engineering management, technical leadership, and individual contributors, supporting diverse career aspirations.

Making critical financial code in the organisation idempotent and durable. Previously, if there was an issue with processing financials, it would require a large amount of engineering effort to resolve. By implementing a workflow pattern that checks off steps completed and writes to a durable storage, it made recovery much simpler. This also logged the specific run processed meaning that if a run had to be retried, we could be sure we would not double process anything and only process steps that had not been completed.
