Who are you? 

The Analytics Engineer is a key member of City Harvest’s Business Intelligence team, leading our efforts building datasets to support our enterprise reporting needs. You will work closely with teammates that manage the requirements for inventory management, truck routing, CRM and other domains, as well as a group of analysts across the organization that need access to well-structured data for reporting. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

• Integrate data from Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Dynamics GP, and other business applications to provide comprehensive views of business activity for reporting
• Evaluate open-source and 3rd party datasets that can enrich our 1st party data
• Own the quality of data available for analysts
• Create structure around free-form data such as client surveys and feedback forms
• Identify performance tuning opportunities for data storage and access by users
• Create reports and visualizations in Power BI or Excel to demonstrate new data capabilities
• Own the creation and maintenance of reference documentation for key reporting datasets
• Provide training and support around datasets for City Harvest analysts embedded in our Business Intelligence and operational teams

Requirements: 

• 3+ years of experience building datasets to support enterprise reporting needs (data warehouse, data mart, Microsoft Dataverse, etc)
• Proficiency with building queries for MS SQL Server databases
• Proficiency creating datasets (semantic models) in Power BI
• Proficiency with data modeling for high-scale reporting needs
• Ability to investigate and reconcile data discrepancies across data sources
• This role is based in City Harvest’s headquarters in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. City Harvest requires new employees to work onsite at least three days per week.

Preferred experience 

• College degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, or equivalent
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
• Experience with Python, R, or other equivalent 
• Experience working with open-source datasets such as American Community Survey (ACS)
• Experience with geographical / map-based reporting needs
