JOB SCOPE

Responsible for providing technical support to ensure the safe, swift, and reliable delivery of services to our internal Charter customers. This role combines software and systems engineering to deliver highly scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant systems.


DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

  • Implement software solutions to improve reliability.
  • Improve reliability, quality, and performance of our suite of software products.
  • Integrate software solutions to improve observability.
  • Assist in the technical management for our IaaS and PaaS platforms.
  • Automate processes and develop tools to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Work alongside other engineers and architects to deliver hybrid cloud solutions outlined in technical roadmaps.
  • Assist in Implementing process changes and investigation process deviations.
  • Work closely with Operations to identify process gaps and investigation process deviations in hypervisor and cloud platforms.
  • Provide consultative assistance to application development teams in leveraging automation and monitoring tools for continuous improvement of application deployments and monitoring.
  • Assist in Installs, manage, and maintain both physical and cloud infrastructure to enable delivery of compute, storage, and network resources.
  • Operate and support pre-production and production environments by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health utilizing tools such as vRops, vRNI, vRLI, Log Insight and AIOPS Systems.
  • Operate and support pre-production and production environments for Compute Servers, SAN Storage, and Virtualization platforms making up or IaaS deployments.
  • Operate and support pre-production and production environments for a Platforms as a Service offerings such as Containers as a Service utilizing Rancher Kubernetes Engine.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as required by the position.
  • Perform other duties as requested.


BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of System Administration experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of Troubleshooting experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of Scripting experience
  • Container Services experience (0-1 year) 
  • Network experience (0-1 year)

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiar with the VMWare suite of products
  • Familiar with managing both physical and Virtual infrastructure
  • Familiar with multiple operating systems (e.g. Windows and Linux)
  • Familiar with Dell, NetApp, VAST, and Pure Storage Platforms working with Block, File, and Object platforms.
  • Basic hands-on experience in one or more cloud computing services (e.g. AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platforms, IBM, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge / hands-on experience with a variety of cloud service models (e.g. Private, Public, and Multi-Cloud)
  • Basic scripting ability in one or more languages (e.g. Python, Shell, PowerShell, Ansible or Perl)
  • Familiar with CI/ CD experience with Puppet, Ansible, Jenkins Experience managing monitoring and alerting tools Basic familiarity with containerized workloads (e.g. Kubernetes, Rancher, OpenShift, TKGI) Conceptual understanding with networking, firewalls, routing, and load balancing
  • Ability to troubleshoot multiple level issues within complex server ecosystems
  • Must have excellent written and oral communications, including technical documents, and process documents.
  • Requires attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to contribute independently as well as be a team player
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • VMware System Administration experience - 2+ years experience 
  • Rancher Kubernetes Engine Container Services experience
  • VMware NSX-T experience
  • vROPs, Log Insight, vRNI, vRIL experience
  • Compute Servers (e.g. Dell, Cisco, etc) experience
  • SAN Storage (e.g. Brocade, Cisco, Pure, Dell, etc) experience
  • NFS and S3 Object experience
  • Networking experience
  • Firewall configuration management experience
  • Load balancer configuration management experience

The base pay for this position generally is between $67,100.00 and $107,300.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
