Job Summary: The (REMOTE) Junior UX Designer at Mattress Firm plays a crucial role in designing user-centered digital experiences. This individual works closely with UX managers, product managers, and development teams to create intuitive and visually appealing interfaces that enhance user satisfaction and engagement. This position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and learning in the field of UX design. ALL CANDIDATES MUST INCLUDE A PORTFOLIO AT TIME OF APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE.


Essential Responsibilities


  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to effectively communicate design ideas and concepts.
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop high-fidelity mockups and visual designs that align with brand guidelines and project requirements.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and other stakeholders, to ensure design solutions meet business and user objectives.
  • Maintain design documentation, including style guides, design specifications, and user personas.
  • Conduct user research, including surveys, interviews, and usability testing to gather insights and understand user needs and behaviors.
  • Assist in planning and conducting user testing sessions to gather feedback and iterate on designs.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve design processes and deliverables.
  • Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date.
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe work environment for all.
  • Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts.
  • Follow all Company policies and execute Company standards on appearance and functionality as well as appropriate brand representation.
  • Communicate any concerns or issues to leadership to ensure proper efficiency of department and company operations.

Non-Essential Responsibilities


  • Execute Company initiatives and other activities requested by supervisor.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Contribute ideas on ways to optimize or improve the team, the department and the company.

Education


  • Bachelor's Degree UX Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction or related field required.

Professional Experience


  • 1+ Years UX Design, with a portfolio showcasing design work and process required.
  • Design systems and component libraries.

Skills List


  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
  • Strong visual design skills with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to take constructive feedback and iterate on designs.

Competencies & Knowledge


  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and front-end development principles. (Cascading style sheets)
  • Experience with user research methodologies and usability testing.
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes. Not traditional waterfall, working on multiple things
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines.
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles and usability best practices.
