Voyatek is seeking applicants to occupy the position of System Engineer - Linux  within our team. This role offers remote work opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and operate software in compliance with technical reference architecture
  • Ensure implemented 3rd part software is updated are current across all systems
  • Ensure implemented 3rd party software is functional and stable through testing
  • Responsible configuring identity access controls, managing access levels, and investigating access and permission issues.
  • Leverage complementary departments and third-party related entities to support applications
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise
  • Maintain technical documentation
  • Engage in internal issue reviews and client calls
  • Deliver support during normal hours of operation and off-hour production emergencies
  • Provide level-of-effort estimates for assigned tasks and change orders
  • Help stabilize new products from R&D into production
  • Identify root causes of technical issues in production and other environments
  • Study and recommend corrective solutions for enhancing software efficiency

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analysis or other related field, or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Information Technology field supporting Linux
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in a client-facing, technical support role 
  • 5 – 8 years of experience with Linux- and UNIX-based systems especially RedHat
  • 5 - 8 years of experience with OpenSouce software products including Apache NiFi, Node.js, and HAProxy
  • Public Cloud experience with AWS.
  • Experience in Secure DevOps and automation principles in delivery   
  • Technical knowledge of techniques, standards, authentication/authorization, and security administration 
  • Adequate knowledge of software development, web-related technologies, databases, and data security 
  • Team player who can engage with other entities to deliver a better customer experience and drive collaboration 
  • Analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities in high pressure environment 
  • Understanding and hands-on experience with one of the programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, PHP, Java) 
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs with the ability to understand and troubleshoot issues 
  • Proven track record of taking ownership of tasks and driving forward to resolutions 
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, listening skills, and presentation skills 
  • Experience with Windows-systems. 

 The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. This includes, but is not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and geographic location. At Voyatek, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current annual range is $80,000 to $129,000.
