Location: Remote in the US or Canada

Flexibility to work across time zones is a must.

 

The UX Researcher will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing user insights to inform product decisions and enhance customer experiences. Working closely with product managers, designers, and engineers, this individual will deliver actionable recommendations based on research findings and ensure customer-centric decision-making throughout the product lifecycle. The role involves ownership of the entire research process, from planning and conducting studies to reporting results and advocating for user needs.

This is a dynamic role within a global ERP company, requiring the ability to move between various teams and projects. You will not stay in one place for long, and your research insights must be consumable, actionable, and impactful, enabling teams to drive decisions even when you’re not directly working with them.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Research Efforts: Conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and competitive analysis.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to ensure research findings are implemented effectively.
  • Drive Discovery & Problem Clarification: Own the discovery phase, testing new ideas, validating assumptions, and uncovering user needs to guide product development.
  • Support Voice of Customer Initiatives: Help implement tools and processes to capture VoC feedback and translate it into actionable product improvements.
  • Usability Assessments: Identify friction points within the product by observing users interact with prototypes or live features, refining the user experience based on findings.
  • Produce Actionable Research Reports: Deliver concise, consumable reports that directly influence roadmap prioritization and decision-making.
  • Proactive Execution: Independently identify and engage participants for research, even with minimal support, ensuring timely and relevant data collection.
  • Metrics-Driven Focus: Translate qualitative insights into quantitative metrics that align with business goals.

Top 5 Responsibilities for the User Researcher:

  1. Conduct User Interviews and Surveys: Regularly gather insights on how users interact with products and identify pain points.
  2. Run Usability Testing: Observe users to identify friction points and improve the user experience.
  3. Support Voice of Customer (VoC) Initiatives: Capture and utilize VoC feedback for continuous product improvement.
  4. Drive Discovery Research: Validate assumptions and uncover user needs to inform product direction.
  5. Produce Actionable Reports: Provide clear insights that directly influence roadmap prioritization.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in user research, including qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Expertise in user interviews, surveys, usability studies, and competitive analysis.
  • Strong ability to synthesize qualitative insights into actionable quantitative metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated with a “find the people, ask the questions, make the data” attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills for delivering consumable and actionable insights.

Preferred:

  • Experience creating scalable research frameworks for organizations with multiple product lines.
  • Familiarity with metrics and KPIs that guide product development and success.
