Introduction to UI / UX Design Techniques  - 3 weeks

Master the art of design from the ground up! You will explore the essentials of design and apply your newfound skills within a UI / UX design project. This course starts with an introduction to UI / UX design and builds your skills in Figma, an industry standard design software. Learn the basics of visual design by creating layouts, adding typography and color, and building an interactive prototype. This course culminates in a project where you develop your own design and practice applying your knowledge through critiquing. You will have the opportunity to apply design methodologies, Figma techniques, incorporate actionable and constructive feedback, and project management frameworks to prepare you for a UI / UX design career.

• Compare user research (UR), user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) as elements of the UI / UX design skill set
• Implement fundamental designs with industry standard tools like Figma

Introduction to Responsible UI / UX Design - 3 weeks

‍

In this course you will learn how to integrate different responsible design methods into your projects. You will learn about the pillars of UI / UX design, integrating responsible design frameworks to prioritize ethical, inclusive, and accessible solutions. You will also learn how designers use other common UI / UX design methodologies, like desirability, viability, and feasibility, the product life cycle, and the importance of iteration to create user-centered designs. This course culminates in using responsible methodologies to assess the ethical impacts of a potential product solution and providing recommendations. This course will prepare you to be an integral part of a design team, giving you the ability to critically examine product choices and provide responsible recommendations.

Integrating Art and Visual Design  - 3 weeks

Develop your skills for the art of visual design within the UI / UX product development field. This course starts with the fundamental principles of visual hierarchy and composition, then builds your skills in applying color, typography, imagery, and layout grids. You will learn to create balanced and informative designs for web and mobile interfaces. This course culminates in a project, where you are able to apply all your knowledge to create a user-friendly layout based on provided user and business goals. This course will give you the skills to develop accessible industry standard practices into your visual design.
